I earned my undergraduate degree from Oral Roberts University in creative writing in 2001. Since earning my degree I have worked in the publishing field as an editor and professional writer. I am passionate about communication and I love teaching other people how to communicate more effectively. Through the course of my career, I have helped numerous authors through the writing and publishing process and have also written and edited countless manuscripts. I tutor a variety of subject areas, including reading, writing, essay editing, literature, English grammar and syntax, public speaking, English, creative writing, fiction writing, introduction to fiction, persuasive writing, psychology, technical writing, vocabulary, world literature, comparative literature, and adult literacy. My teaching philosophy is closely modeled on the Socratic Method. I do not believe in providing the answers for my students. Rather, I believe it is important for students to be challenged and guided towards finding the answer on their own. I love having the opportunity to work with individual students to improve their ability to communicate effectively with others. This may be in the form of researching and writing a compelling paper or finding ways to achieve laser focus when answering essay questions. The process of writing effectively is an ongoing journey and I am excited to be part of that journey with my students.
